Benghazi: A parliamentary committee is collaborating with the National Security Council to prepare a comprehensive cybersecurity law. Abdullah Blihaq, spokesperson for the House of Representatives, announced that an interim committee, established under House of Representatives Resolution No. (115) of 2025, convened at the National Security Council headquarters in Benghazi to discuss the legislative process. The discussions revolved around strengthening legislation related to communications, the digital space, and digital sovereignty with the aim of advancing technological safeguards and enhancing the protection of the digital domain. According to Libyan News Agency, Blihaq emphasized in a press statement the significance of robust cooperation and coordination between the interim committee and the National Security Council. This partnership is pivotal in preparing and drafting legislation concerning cybersecurity and the digital environment, which aims to safeguard data and information while reinforcing digit al sovereignty. The meeting was led by the head of the committee, Member of Parliament Asma Al-Khouja, and included participation from committee members such as Minister of Communications and Information Technology Salem Abdullah Al-Darsi, Dr. Hilal Hadiya Al-Muntasir, Dr. Amr Abdel-Nabi, and committee secretary Habib Al-Kharshoufi. Representatives from the National Security Council present at the meeting included Brigadier General Ibrik Al-Alami, Director of the Administrative Affairs Department; Dr. Al-Mabrouk Sultan, Director of the Information Technology Department; Mohammed Bazaza from the Information Technology Department; and Yahya Al-Warshafani from the Legal Department.
