NOC announces the beginning of developing a new strategic plan for the oil and gas sector in Libya

Tripoli -The National Oil Corporation “NOC” announced it has started developing a new strategic plan for the oil and gas sector in Libya, with the aim of change and keeping abreast of developments in this sector in the world.

The plan included the establishment of the Office of Strategic Programs, which will undertake the implementation of this plan, with many initiatives, projects and programs to lead and develop the oil and gas sector in the country, in addition to contracting with the American company “Kearney”.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Farhat bin Qadara, explained these new steps in a meeting in Benghazi, included the Board of Directors of the NOC, the chairmen of the management committees of the subsidiaries of the NOC, the general managers, and directors of the departments of the NOC and the team of the Office of Strategic Programs.

“We have an ambitious vision to return Libya to the ranks of the main energy-producing countries in the world, and to achieve this, it requires a major change in the oil and gas sector in Libya, which requires developing appropriate strategic plans to be ready in the future, taking into consideration changes and local and international challenges in the energy sector,” Bin Qadara said.

“We previously announced our work to launch a plan to raise production to 2 million barrels within 3 or 5 years, and it’s one of the Corporation’s main priorities during the upcoming period, and we also established the office of strategic programs to intensify efforts and ensure implementation of these programs and initiatives, today it is only the beginning of many innovative initiatives to come,” he added.

The NOC stated that the office of strategic programs was established to provide capabilities and modern methods to ensure the implementation of the new vision and strategy for the oil and gas sector, which includes a selection of local and international consultants and experts in various professional sectors, such as law, business administration, project management experts, and experts in the production, development, and exploration of oil and gas.
