Niamey: The Nigerien army has announced the successful rescue of 50 migrants who were stranded in the northern desert of the country near the border with Libya. This area is a common transit point for those en route to Europe.

According to Libyan News Agency, the army revealed that the group, which included 20 women and 12 children, found themselves in dire conditions when their vehicle broke down last Friday. The migrants were left exposed to the severe desert climate, which posed significant risks to their safety.

The army’s statement highlighted that the Rapid Intervention Brigade was dispatched to the scene, providing necessary assistance in the Djado region of Niger. The location is approximately 200 kilometers from the Libyan border, a well-known route for migrants.
