National Oil Corporation Explores Joint Cooperation with Iraqi Embassy

Tripoli: The Chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Masoud Sulaiman, discussed with the Charg© d’Affaires of the Iraqi Embassy in Libya, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, ways of joint cooperation between the two countries in the oil and energy sector.

According to Libyan News Agency, the Iraqi Embassy in Tripoli stated on its Facebook page that during the meeting, the two sides reviewed Iraq’s activities in this vital sector, including developing its production capabilities and its contracts with international oil companies.

The embassy added that the Chairman of the National Oil Corporation welcomed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two sides regarding training, development, and capacity building. He emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between the Petroleum Institute in Iraq and its Libyan counterpart in the fields of study, research, and exchange of expertise.

He also expressed his welcome to hosting Iraqi oil experts in the capital, Tripoli, acknowledging the historical and effective role played by Iraqi experts working in Libyan oil institutions over the past decades and their contributions to developing production and training capabilities, according to the embassy.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Chairman of the Corporation expressed his readiness to visit Baghdad soon to reach important understandings that would enhance bilateral cooperation in the oil and energy sectors.
