Tripoli, The National Oil Corporation (NOC) celebrated the 60th anniversary of the export of the first shipment of Libyan oil to the world on October 25, 1961, by adopting the ownership transfer measurement system for crude oil exports after success of on-site tests conducted during the past days, under the supervision of the NOC General Administration of Inspection and Measurement.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Oil Corporation Mustafa Sun’Allah congratulated workers in the oil sector on this anniversary, in an intervention within the celebration held at the company’s headquarters in the oil terminal of Marsa Al-Breiga.

Sun’Allah indicated that on this day 25 October 1961, King Idris Senussi inaugurated the first shipment of Libyan crude, thus paving way for Libya to join the oil producing and exporting countries.

He stressed that the oil sector is a promising sector and that despite the exceptional and difficult circumstances, this sector is vital and the backbone of economic life, and will remain cohesive and full of potential reserves of oil or gas.
