Tripoli: The National Oil Corporation (NOC) is in discussions with a consortium comprising Eni and BP regarding future exploration plans in the Ghadames and Sirte Basins. These discussions focus on exploration activities slated for 2025, and proposals for 2026 in both onshore and offshore areas.

According to Libyan News Agency, the expanded technical meeting included the NOC’s Exploration Department Director, counterparts from Eni and BP, representatives from the Libyan Investment Authority (LIA), and a number of specialists from relevant entities. During this meeting, the consortium confirmed their intent to drill an exploratory well in the Ghadames Basin this year. Plans are also underway to drill two additional exploratory wells next year, one in the Ghadames Basin and another in the offshore area of the Sirte Basin.

This initiative underscores NOC’s commitment to bolstering international cooperation and enhancing national capabilities in oil exploration, integral to advancing Libya’s energy sector.
