Tripoli: A meeting held yesterday in London between the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Naji Mohamed Issa, and the Ministry's Chief Economic Advisor, Deniz Icoz, attended by the Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department and his team, focused on reviewing key economic and financial developments in Libya, macroeconomic updates, and current challenges. The meeting also involved an exchange of views on various economic and financial issues of mutual interest. According to Libyan News Agency, Issa outlined the Bank's efforts to develop the banking sector, enhance its efficiency, promote financial inclusion, ensure monetary and financial stability, and bolster the national economy's resilience in the face of local and international challenges and variables. The Bank stated that the meeting addressed the Central Bank of Libya's efforts to unify public spending, improve methods for combating money laundering and terrorist financing, strengthen compliance, governance, and oversight systems withi n the banking sector, and foster cooperation and coordination with relevant national and international bodies. These efforts aim to enhance the integrity and transparency of Libya's financial and banking system and align it with relevant international standards and practices. Both sides emphasized, according to the same source, the importance of strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise and insights in the economic, financial, and banking sectors, as well as leveraging international experience to support reform and development programs.
