Naji Issa Attends MENAP Central Bank Governors’ Meeting in Washington

Washington: Naji Issa, the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, participated in a meeting composed of central bank governors, finance ministers, and heads of regional financial institutions from the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan (MENAP) region. Khaled Al-Mabrouk, Minister of Finance of the Government of National Unity, also attended the meeting.

According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting was chaired by Kristalina Georgieva, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund. It took place on the sidelines of the 2025 Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, held in Washington, D.C., from April 21 to 26.

The Central Bank of Libya reported that discussions focused on key strategic issues and economic growth in the region. The meeting addressed future prospects in the context of the uncertain global economy, emphasizing the need to implement monetary policies aimed at containing recurring economic shocks. Additionally, fiscal policy requirements to address inflation were a significant topic of discussion.
