MPs reject the proposal to amend the passport law: We collected signatures to withdraw the law for these reasons

Representatives of the Parliament announced their rejection and objection to the proposed law amending the Passport Law No. (32) of 2015, which the House of Representatives completed its second reading and discussing,' in its session held today, Saturday. The MP of the Ishraqa Canon bloc, Haider Al-Mutairi, said in a joint press conference today, Saturday, that 'the granting of a diplomatic passport is linked to diplomatic functions and public functions of a sovereign nature, and ends with the completion of the procedures for that function.' He explained, "The move to amend the law on granting passports includes the retention of the diplomatic passport by the occupants of those positions and their families for life." He added, "The amendment includes more than that, by granting retirees who held diplomatic positions and their spouses this privilege retroactively after 2003," adding that "the House of Representatives' attempt to amend this law contradicts the principles of social justice, which require achi eving equality in dealing between the citizen and the official." He continued to say, 'We record our rejection and objection to this amendment, and we will seek to withdraw the law through the support of some MPs, as signatures were collected to withdraw the law.'
