Morocco, Denmark Discuss Promoting Water Management Cooperation

During these talks, attended by Denmark’s Ambassador to Morocco Berit Basse, Baraka provided an overview of the key elements of Morocco’s approach to water management, notably the integrated water management strategy, covering areas such as water resource management, desalination using renewable energy, and wastewater treatment.

Speaking to the press following this meeting, Baraka emphasized that Denmark expressed a strong interest in collaborating on Morocco’s water strategy and expanding tripartite cooperation with sub-Saharan African countries to tackle climate change and ensure food security across the continent.

MP Kim Valentin, head of the Danish delegation, highlighted that the meeting aligns with Denmark’s new Africa strategy, which seeks to deepen partnerships with Morocco and foster tripartite initiatives between Denmark, Morocco, and other African nations.

“Morocco holds a unique position in Denmark’s Africa strategy, as it leads not only in water management but also in several other sectors,”
said Valentin, stressing the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation to address the shared challenges of climate change in both Africa and Europe.

He also pointed to the need for increased bilateral trade and investment between Morocco and Denmark.
