Tripoli: Mohammed Al-Mnifi, the President of the Presidential Council and Chairman of the Higher Finance Committee, chaired the inaugural meeting of the technical committee arising from the Higher Finance Committee. This meeting focused on overseeing the operating and investment expenditures of the National Oil Corporation and the General Electricity Company, with full attendance from all committee members.
According to Libyan News Agency, the session concentrated on addressing the significant challenges and obstacles hindering financial and administrative reform. Key issues discussed included the need for a comprehensive and accurate review of the legal, technical, and financial aspects of contracts in the oil and electricity sectors from the past five years.
The media office conveyed Al-Mnifi’s insistence on rigorous legal oversight for all contracts to ensure their compliance with national legislation and regulations, thereby safeguarding the state’s sovereignty and resources. He also highlighted the necessity of working closely with relevant oversight and judicial bodies.
Furthermore, as reported by the office, the technical committee’s head and members confirmed their ongoing technical collaboration with the Sanctions Committee’s team of experts established by Security Council Resolution 1970 of 2011. This collaboration aims to guarantee full adherence to international resolutions while preserving Libya’s sovereignty and the rights and resources of its people.
