MMR Management Announces Halt Of Water Supply To All Cities On Al Hasawnah-Sahal Al Jfara Network.

Tripoli, The Man-made River Management has announced that water supply to cities and towns on the Al Hasawanah-Sahal Al Jfara track was cut off on Saturday, after an armed group broke into the control valve station in the town of Al Shweiref on Friday.

In a statement it issued today the MMR Management said negotiations with the group has produced a 72 hour deadline to liaise with competent authorities to look into their demands.

‘Because the authorities failed to respond to their demands, the group ordered shutdown of the water supply, and warned that it would forcibly shut it if their demands were not met, the MMR Management said.

The Management said it was obliged to shut down the water supply as of Saturday, to all customers on the network track.

It appealed to the competent authorities to shoulder their responsibilities, to protect the most important source of water supply in the country.
