Tripoli: The municipality of Misrata has issued a strong statement emphasizing the importance of maintaining neutrality among security institutions in the face of political, ideological, and tribal conflicts. This call comes amid ongoing tensions and underscores the need for impartiality to ensure the stability and security of the region.

According to Libyan News Agency, the Misrata Municipal Council expressed its unwavering support for the Attorney General, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Security Directorate, and other law enforcement agencies. The Council highlighted the significance of these bodies performing their duties in strict accordance with the law, while urging them to remain free from any external influences that may compromise their integrity.

The statement, released on Wednesday, reiterated that security operations within Misrata fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Misrata Security Directorate. The Council called on all security and law enforcement agencies to operate under the leadership of the Security Directorate’s Director, adhering to a coordinated security plan aimed at safeguarding the municipality.

Furthermore, the Council emphasized that the security and stability of the city are of utmost importance, urging all parties to prioritize the protection of citizens and their property. The statement also affirmed the right to freedom of expression as enshrined in law, provided it respects the rights of others and maintains a balance between duties and rights.

The Misrata Municipal Council appealed to the city’s residents to take security matters seriously and actively support the ongoing security efforts. It stressed that dialogue and adherence to legal frameworks are crucial for maintaining social peace and building effective national institutions.
