Tripoli: The Ministry of Defense of the Government of National Unity has declared the initiation of a ceasefire in all areas of tension in Tripoli. This move aims to safeguard civilians and protect state institutions.
According to Libyan News Agency, the Ministry confirmed that regular forces, in collaboration with relevant security authorities, have started implementing measures to maintain calm. Neutral units have been deployed at critical points to prevent any clashes that could escalate tensions in the capital.
The Ministry stated that its approach to the situation is driven by a national duty to protect public order and prevent any exploitation of the situation that could undermine the legitimacy of the state and its institutions. The emphasis remains on unity, upholding the rule of law, and dismantling unauthorized armaments.
The Ministry of Defense reiterated its commitment to not allowing any forceful imposition of conditions outside the state’s official framework. It urged all parties to adhere to the ceasefire and avoid any actions or statements that might reignite tensions.
