Beirut: Minister of Culture, Dr. Ghassan Salam©, has made a decision to include the “Tall Fadous – Kfar Abida Archaeological Site” in the General Inventory of Historic Buildings. This site is positioned on properties numbered 741, 743, 744, 745, 748, and 1408 within the Kfar Abida Real Estate Area, located in the Batroun District of the North Lebanon Governorate.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the decision stipulates that no alterations can be made to the current status of these properties without prior approval from the Directorate General of Antiquities. The approval process will require details on the intended work and materials to be used. This decision is based on a report issued by the Directorate General of Antiquities, numbered 3154 and dated August 25, 2025. The report outlined the findings of archaeological excavations at the site, revealing evidence of a small fortified city from the Middle Bronze Age. These findings have been deemed significant for understanding the historical and scientific context of the region and its coastal villages during the Bronze Age.
Minister Salam© convened a meeting at his office in the National Library in Sanayeh, attended by Director General of Antiquities Engineer Sarkis Khoury, the Mayor of Kfar Abida Michel Feghali, Deputy Issam Fadous, members of the Municipal Council, and Dr. Hermann Ganz, Scientific Director of the Archaeological Mission at the American University of Beirut. This mission operates under the supervision of the Directorate General of Antiquities. The meeting also included civil society organizations, focusing on the importance of safeguarding this archaeological site and others across various regions of Lebanon.
