Mikdad receives credentials of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Cuba

Damascus, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Fayssal Mikdad received on Wednesday a copy of credentials of Ambassador Luis Mariano Fernandez Rodrigues, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cuba to Syria.

During the meeting, both sides have highlighted the depth of historical relationship between both friendly countries and the importance of continuing work on developing and strengthening them in health, economic and political domains.

Minister Mikdad thanked the Cuban people and leadership for their stances in supporting Syria during confronting effects of the devastating earthquake.

He also noted to the impact of unilateral sanctions imposed by the US and the West on Syria which have increased the repercussions of the quake.

Mikdad has affirmed Syria’s condemnation of the US embargo imposed on both countries which contradicts all humanitarian principles and international law.

In turn, Cuban ambassador extends his deep condolences over the victims of the earthquake and conveyed his country’s condolences and greetings to the Syrian people, stressing Cuba’s condemnation of the recent Israeli aggression that targeted residential buildings in Damascus city.

He also asserted Cuba’s readiness to provide any humanitarian and medical aid for the Syrians to face the repercussions of the quake.
