Madbouli, Bavaria minister-president witness inking letter of intent to boost cooperation in field of hydrogen


Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and Germany’s Bavaria Minister-President Markus Söder witnessed on Thursday a ceremony for inking a joint letter of intent between the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy and government of Bavaria state on boosting bilateral cooperation in the field of hydrogen.

The letter of intent was inked by Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat and Minister of State in Bavaria government Florian Herrmann.

On the sidelines of the inking ceremony, Esmat said that the inking of the letter of intent comes in light of Egypt’s accreditation of an integrated national strategy to produce low-carbon hydrogen as a promising source of energy in the near future.

The inking comes within the framework of developing partnership between Egypt and Germany in the field of green hydrogen and liquified natural gas and in light of the strong ties based on trust between Egypt and Bavaria to boost bilateral cooperation in the field of hydrogen in the joint foreign commercial act
ivities, he said.

Both sides agreed that the cooperation would include supporting and encouraging knowledge exchange and mutual relations at the institutional level, he said.

The letter of intent aims at discovering and boosting opportunities of exchange and joint development between the companies and partners concerned as part of the foreign trade policy and supporting scientific cooperation between the Egyptian and Bavarian research institutions, said he.

Esmat added that Egypt is interested in encouraging green hydrogen economy and accrediting an integrated national strategy to produce low-carbon hydrogen as a promising source of energy within the framework of the sustainable and integrated national strategy which aims at increasing the renewable energy to 42% of the total energy generated by 2030.
