Tripoli: The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbaiba, has made significant changes to the country’s approach to combating illegal migration. He issued a decision to establish the “General Department for Combating Illegal Migration” within the Ministry of Interior, which will assume the responsibilities previously held by the Anti-Illegal Migration Agency.
According to Libyan News Agency, the decision, announced today, includes the dissolution of the Anti-Illegal Migration Agency. The powers of this agency, along with its fixed and movable assets and all security and administrative personnel, will be transferred to the newly created department within the Ministry of Interior.
In addition to these changes, the Prime Minister has also decided to dissolve the Special Operations Force. Like the Anti-Illegal Migration Agency, the assets and personnel of the Special Operations Force will be transferred to the Ministry of Interior.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister has directed the transfer of responsibilities of the Facilities and Installations Security Authority to the Ministry of Interior, consolidating various security functions under one ministry.
