Jakarta: The second session of the Libyan-Indonesian Joint Committee meetings took place in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, marking a significant step towards bolstering the friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
According to Libyan News Agency, the session was led by Mohammed Zeidan, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Expatriate Affairs from the Libyan side, and Muhammad Anies Mata, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs from the Indonesian side. Representatives from relevant authorities in both countries participated in the discussions.
The committee focused on reviewing bilateral relations and exploring avenues for collaboration in key areas such as economy and trade, political and diplomatic coordination, health, technical and vocational education, and investment. Both sides underscored their commitment to activating existing agreements and memoranda of understanding, expanding bilateral partnerships, and promoting communication and integration between public and private sectors to support mutual interests and sustainable development.
The meeting was characterized by a positive and constructive atmosphere, with both parties expressing satisfaction and affirming their dedication to ongoing coordination and follow-up to implement the agreements reached, reflecting the robust bilateral relationship between Libya and Indonesia.
Concluding the session, the heads of the two delegations signed the agreed-upon minutes of the meeting and an agreement on visa exemption for holders of diplomatic and special passports. This aims to facilitate official movement between the two countries and is seen as a preliminary step towards eliminating visa requirements for all citizens, which is expected to enhance movement, economic exchange, and cooperation.
Additionally, a memorandum of understanding was initialed between the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture of Libya and the Chamber of Commerce of Indonesia, aimed at strengthening economic and trade cooperation.
