Tokyo: The Embassy of the State of Libya in Tokyo hosted the first meeting of the Council of Arab Ambassadors for 2026, with heads and representatives of Arab missions accredited to Japan in attendance. The meeting, held on Wednesday, marked a significant step in fostering coordination and collaboration among the Arab missions.
According to Libyan News Agency, Charg© d'Affaires Ahmed Al-Naas opened the meeting by emphasizing the importance of strengthening mechanisms for coordination, consultation, and joint cooperation among Arab missions. Al-Naas highlighted that such efforts are crucial for unifying positions on regional and international issues, with a particular focus on priority Arab issues.
The meeting's agenda included a review of recent regional and international developments and discussions on enhancing mechanisms for joint Arab action. The participants explored prospects for cooperation and coordination among the Arab Group in the upcoming period, aiming to address the rapidly evolving situation in the region.
A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to discussing the latest developments in the Palestinian territories. The ambassadors expressed concern over the continued aggressive policies and illegal practices of the Israeli occupation government, which they stated are in violation of international law and UN resolutions. They reaffirmed their unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, particularly their right to establish an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
