Libya: Libyan military officers from both the eastern and western regions of the country recently visited Ramstein Air Base in Germany. The visit, which took place from August 3 to 6, was organized to provide insights into air transport operations, aircraft maintenance, and airport management, according to the US Embassy in Libya.
According to Libyan News Agency, the embassy shared details of the visit on the 'X' platform, highlighting that the Libyan officers engaged with US pilots from the 86th Air Transport Wing. The officers had the opportunity to tour the air traffic control tower and examine the C-130J Super Hercules military transport aircraft. Additionally, they participated in a flight to gain firsthand experience of the aircraft's capabilities in tactical air transport.
The embassy noted that this engagement reflects the United States' commitment to supporting Libya's efforts to unify and improve the efficiency of its military institutions. This interaction among Libyan Air Force members from various regions underscores a significant step towards military cohesion in the country.
The U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) also pointed out that this cooperation in air transport is pivotal in strengthening the bilateral relations between the United States and Libya. The visit was emphasized as a testament to the shared commitment to regional stability and the aspiration for a more secure and prosperous future for North Africa.
Furthermore, Massad Boulos, the U.S. Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, welcomed this initiative. He stressed the importance of continued dialogue among Libyan military leaders, which plays a crucial role in establishing unified military and security institutions, thereby contributing to a more stable, secure, and prosperous society.
