Libyan Ambassador to Rome Facilitates Family Visits to Detainees in Italian Prisons

Rome: Libyan Ambassador to Italy, Muhannad Younis, recently welcomed several families of Libyan detainees currently held in Italian correctional facilities at the Libyan Embassy in Rome. The visit was organized to allow families to meet their relatives, with the embassy providing direct support and supervision of the arrangements.

According to Libyan News Agency, Ambassador Younis emphasized the embassy’s dedication to facilitating these humanitarian visits. He noted that the embassy coordinated with relevant Italian authorities to ensure that the meetings were conducted smoothly and in an atmosphere conducive to reinforcing family and social ties.

During the gathering, the ambassador updated the families on the latest developments concerning the detainees and ongoing related procedures. He reassured those present of the embassy’s commitment to maintaining communication and follow-up with the appropriate authorities.

Furthermore, the embassy reiterated its ongoing efforts to protect the rights of Libyan detainees in Italy. It also highlighted its commitment to working with the Italian authorities on implementing the agreement concerning the transfer of persons sentenced to custodial sentences. This agreement aims to allow detainees to complete their sentences in Libya, and the embassy is keen on seeing it come into effect as soon as possible.
