Cairo: Libya, through its National Center for Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management, took part in the inaugural Arab Forum on Early Warning and Disaster Preparedness, organized by the League of Arab States. The forum, held in Cairo, operated under the theme "Together for Better Coordination and More Effective Response."
According to Libyan News Agency, the forum saw extensive participation from representatives of numerous Arab nations, regional and international organizations, United Nations agencies, and a group of experts and specialists focusing on disaster risk reduction. The event was positioned against the backdrop of rising natural and man-made disasters in the Arab region, which carry significant humanitarian, economic, and developmental impacts.
The Center highlighted the necessity of advancing early warning systems and enhancing preparedness to protect lives and property while bolstering community resilience. Participation in the forum reflects Libya's dedication to improving international collaboration and sharing expertise. The Center aims to support regional initiatives to develop a more robust early warning system, which is crucial for an effective and integrated response to various risks and emergencies.
