Tripoli: The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the Government of National Unity, Taher Al-Baour, has voiced Libya's full support for Somalia's sovereignty following Israel's recognition of the "Somaliland" region.

According to Libyan News Agency, Al-Baour sent a message of solidarity to his Somali counterpart, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, condemning the Israeli declaration as a blatant violation of Somalia's sovereignty and national unity. He described the move as a breach of international law and the principles outlined in the United Nations Charter.

Al-Baour emphasized Libya's firm rejection of unilateral actions that could compromise the unity and territorial integrity of nations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation shared this stance through a statement on its official page, reinforcing Libya's commitment to Somali unity.

In his message, Al-Baour underscored the importance of respecting the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia over its entire territory. He affirmed Somalia's legitimate right to protect its national unity from external interference and attempts to establish a new geopolitical reality.

He further urged the international community to fulfill its legal and moral obligations by denouncing decisions that threaten regional security and stability. Al-Baour concluded by reaffirming Libya's commitment to continued collaboration with Somalia in international forums, advocating for legitimacy, and upholding the principles of state sovereignty and territorial integrity.
