Tripoli:Ashraf Mohamed Al-Taib, Director of the International Cooperation Department at Libya's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, recently met with Mumtaz Hussain, the Pakistani Ambassador to Libya. Their discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors of mutual interest.
According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting took place at the Ministry's headquarters and centered on Libyan-Pakistani relations. Both parties highlighted the importance of reactivating the joint committee between the two nations and proposed scheduling its 14th session in Islamabad. They also reviewed the implementation of existing agreements.
The discussions included the potential for memoranda of understanding concerning the avoidance of double taxation and the promotion and protection of investments. Additionally, a proposal was made to organize a Libyan-Pakistani economic forum in 2027 and establish a joint chamber of commerce to boost trade and investment.
The meeting further explored the possibility of leveraging Pakistani expertise in electricity, engineering, construction, and technology. They also discussed enhancing cooperation in the health sector and exchanging expertise and modern technologies.
Both sides stressed the necessity of ongoing coordination and consultation between relevant authorities. They agreed on the importance of transforming proposed cooperation areas into practical programs and projects to strengthen relations between Libya and Pakistan for their mutual benefit.
