Libya and Malta Discuss Strategies to Remove EU Ban on Libyan Aviation

Tripoli: Libya and Malta have initiated discussions on devising joint coordination mechanisms aimed at lifting the ban on Libyan civil aviation in European airspace. Mohammed Al-Shahoubi, the Minister of Transport and Financial Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, engaged in talks with Charles Saliba, the Maltese Ambassador to Libya, to address this issue, which is critical for Libya’s reintegration into European airspace.

According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting, which took place in Tripoli, focused on enhancing air transport between Libya and Malta. The discussions included plans to increase the number of direct flights between Libyan and Maltese airports, alongside streamlining visa procedures for Libyan citizens. These initiatives are expected to boost communication and exchange between the two nations.

Al-Shahoubi emphasized the significance of collaborating with European partners, particularly highlighting Malta’s role as a crucial gateway for Libya into Europe. The need for cooperation with such partners is seen as vital for Libya’s aviation sector.

The Maltese Ambassador conveyed Malta’s eagerness to strengthen its partnership with Libya, especially in transportation and aviation. The collaboration aims to open new avenues for cooperation in various sectors, contributing to the growth and stability of both nations.
