Geneva: Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Taher Al-Baour, met with the European Union Ambassador to the United Nations Office at Geneva, Dick Potzel, to discuss cooperation between Libya and the EU in the field of human rights.
According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting took place on the sidelines of the Universal Periodic Review session of the Human Rights Council, held from November 10-12, 2025, in Geneva, Switzerland. The discussions focused on enhancing joint coordination within the Human Rights Council, aimed at supporting Libyan national efforts to promote and protect human rights.
The dialogue also covered the progress made in the partnership between Libya and the European Union, particularly in the areas of migration, development, and capacity building. Both parties stressed the importance of maintaining dialogue and constructive cooperation to advance common interests and strengthen bilateral relations.
Ambassador Potzel conveyed the European Union’s appreciation for Libya’s efforts in promoting human rights and affirmed the EU’s support for Libya’s path to stability and reform.
