Kufra Municipality Refutes Claims of Over One Million Sudanese Refugees Entering Libya

Kufra: The Kufra Municipality has denied reports claiming that more than one million Sudanese refugees have entered Libya, asserting that such information is inaccurate.

According to Libyan News Agency, Abdullah Suleiman, Director of the Municipality’s Media Office, stated in press releases that the widely circulated figures about Sudanese refugees entering Libya are incorrect, with the actual number being much lower. Suleiman highlighted the challenges in determining the precise number due to the lack of close monitoring at the Libyan borders since the outbreak of the armed conflict in Sudan.

He further confirmed that the Kufra Municipality has issued over 120,000 health certificates to Sudanese refugees, indicating that arrivals continue daily, though at varying rates.
