Tripoli: A joint ministerial committee, led by Minister of Transport Mohammed Al-Shahoubi, convened an extensive meeting on Monday to explore mechanisms for addressing the pressing issues faced by troubled national companies and ensuring the protection of their workers’ rights.
According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting saw the proposal of several strategies aimed at resolving these issues. Among the proposed solutions was the referral of some workers to the Social Security Fund to safeguard their ongoing financial rights. Additionally, there was discussion about redistributing other affected workers to government sectors and facilities that have the capacity to integrate them.
Al-Shahoubi emphasized that the primary goal of the meeting was to uphold the rights of workers. He also noted that ongoing consultation sessions with all relevant parties are planned to ensure the timely and effective implementation of these mechanisms.
The committee aims to finalize a comprehensive mechanism within the coming week. This mechanism is expected to facilitate the implementation of solutions in an equitable and orderly manner, adhering to legal regulations and professional standards.
The meeting also included Minister of Labor and Rehabilitation Ali Al-Abed, committee members, and department directors from the Ministries of Labor and Civil Service. Representatives from the Libyan Workers Union were also present.
