Italy Renews Its Support For The Libyan Political Process, And To Lead The Country Towards The Elections Scheduled For December 24.

Rome, The Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, “Luigi Di Maio” affirmed that his country strongly encourages, as soon as possible, to reach a broad consensus in Libya based on a broad acceptance base, allowing elections to be held during their scheduled date.

Di Maio in a statement to the Italian Foreign Ministry, said “His country pays great attention to the meeting of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, which has been held in Geneva since Monday under the auspices of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya,” according to the agency “Aki” on Wednesday.

He added that “in the wake of the second Berlin conference, Italy renews its most convinced support for the Libyan political process, on the road that it will have to lead the country to the elections scheduled for December 24th”.

He continued; “In this perspective, Italy pays great attention to the new Libyan political dialogue session, which has been taking place since June 28 in Geneva, with the aim of facilitating the definition of the constitutional and legislative framework on which the elections will be held”.

The Italian Diplomacy Minister explained that “Libya, more than ever, needs unity, rapprochement and full sovereignty to achieve political, institutional and economic recovery.”
