Italian President Stresses Need For Italian-French Coordination Over Libya And Sahel Region.

Rome, Italian President Sergio Mattarella reaffirmed Monday that bilateral cooperation with France should be upgraded to establish stability in Libya and the Sahel region.

This came in remarks Mattarella made to reporters following a meeting with French President Emanuel Macron.

‘Europe can convey to neighboring regions like Libya and the Sahel region a message for peace and cooperation’, Mattarella was quoted by the Italian Aki news agency as saying.

‘In this respect France and Italy are invited to cooperate exactly as what they are doing, he said.

‘I spoke to President Macron about cross-Atlantic belonging, and our cooperation and responsibility to countries, like the case of Libya and the Sahel region, and indeed about everything that France and Italy feel they are united in, to establish peace, cooperation and growth, not only regarding the future of Europe, but also the neighboring regions which face crises and upheavals.’, the Italian President said.
