Iran renewed its condemnation of the unilateral sanctions and coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people by the US and its allies.

“The continuation of US and the EU unilateral sanctions, and the looting of Syrian natural resources by illegitimate foreign forces have a negative impact on the humanitarian situation in Syria and have increased the challenges facing the Syrian people and hindred the government’s ability to provide basic services to its people” , Iranian News Agency (IRNA) quoted Iranian Ambassador and Assistant Permanent Representative to UN Zahra Arshadi as saying.

Ambassador Arshadi speech came during a UN Security Council meeting on “Ensuring the security and dignity of civilians in conflict: addressing food insecurity and protecting essential services” under the agenda item “Protection of civilians in armed conflict”.”

Arshadi stressed that unilateral coercive measures have dire consequences, especially food insecurity, which affects civilians, especially women and children, in addition to obstructing the provision of vital aid.

“The Israeli entity also continues its aggression and terrorist attacks against Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity with complete impunity and without any consequences by the international community, which requires an international stance on rejecting and condemning these attacks”, Arshady said.
