The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Wednesday said it had agreed with the Ukrainian government on a $15.6 billion assistance plan to support a gradual economic recovery while creating conditions for long-term growth in the post-conflict period. According to the Washington Post, the head of the IMF’s field mission, Gavin Gray, said in a statement: “In addition to the terrible human losses, the devastating impact of the war in Ukraine continues on its economy, as GDP declined by 30 per cent in 2022, and a large part of the country’s industrial sector was destroyed, and poverty has gone up.” US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said in a statement that the US would continue to support the Ukrainian government and people as “long as possible,” according to the Washington Post.
