House Convenes on Wednesday for Questioning Government of National Unity.

Tobruk, The House of Representatives convened in the eastern city of Tobruk on Wednesday to question the Government of National Unity in the presence of the Head of Government Abdul Hamid Al Dbeiba.

At the start of the meeting, the Speaker gave floor to the Chairman of the House Financial Committee Abdul Salam Nasia, who questioned the Prime Minister about Government spending in the last period, indicating that the House was in agreement with the Central Bank of Libya over determining the value of the budget to safeguard the country’s economy.

‘A number of notes reveal that some expenditures did not appear on the emergency item, Nasia said, calling on Government to avoid expending of money without an act from the House of Representatives, and said the Government had to address Parliament to set up funds for such expenditures.

In his response to the questioning, the Head of Government Abdul Hamid Al Dbeiba thanked the House for their notes, underscoring Government’s respect of the House of Representatives as the country’s highest legislative body.

Ak Dbeiba said all expenditures involved Government ministries including the Interior Ministry to ensure law and order, the Local Government, for municipalities, the Social Security Fund, and Health to combat the Covid 19, the medical centres, universities, and transport to retrieve more than 13 airplanes.

Al Dbeiba said no single dinar was spent from the amount earmarked for development, and the amount was deferred to complete suspended projects in the cities, indicating that the Government had set up funds for reconstruction of cities.

The Prime Minister said all Ministers were prepared to come to the House to explain the expenditure of their ministries.
