HNEC organizes a dialogue session on role of women’s unions in promoting electoral participation.

Tripoli, 27 December, 2022 (LANA) – The High National Elections Commission organized, Tuesday in Tripoli, a dialogue session on (the role of women’s unions in enhancing electoral participation and the process of electing the General Assembly of Women’s Union.

This dialogue session came within the framework of strengthening the role of women’s unions and the General Women’s Union in playing its effective role and contributing to advancing the electoral process and the status of Libyan women and the importance of their participation in the electoral process and decision-making.

The session was attended by the head of the General Women’s Union, Fathia Al-Bakhkh, the head of the sustainablity committee in the House of Representatives, Rabia Aburas, member of the Commission’s council, Rabab Halab, and a number of female members of the General Women’s Union.

The session dealt with several issues, the most important of which is the importance of the role of women in decision-making, the electoral process in terms of candidacy in elections, acceptance and rejection of women and their participation in the electoral process.

During the session, emphasis were made on strengthening the role of women and supporting them in the elections in terms of candidacy and participation in decision-making, because they are an important part of society.
