Benghazi: Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, held a meeting with a high-level European delegation in Benghazi to discuss local and regional developments. The discussions also focused on strategies to combat illegal immigration and human and drug trafficking networks.
According to Libyan News Agency, the European delegation comprised the European Union Ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, the Commander of Operation Irini, Admiral Marco Casapieri, and the Head of the EU Border Assistance Mission (EUBAM), Jan Fischettal. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commander-in-Chief and the Chief of the General Staff from the Libyan side. Both parties exchanged views on local and regional issues and deliberated on ways to address illegal immigration and trafficking concerns.
The European delegation expressed appreciation for the efforts of the General Command in achieving security and stability within Libya. They acknowledged the importance of securing Libya’s land and sea borders and reiterated their commitment to supporting initiatives that aim to sustain long-term stability in the country.
