The UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, called on all Libyan and international actors to ensure strict compliance with the arms embargo and full implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Libya.

Guterres stressed, in his new report on the implementation of the arms embargo on Libya, the need to strictly implement the arms embargo and conduct ship inspections off the coast of Libya.

“The action plan related to the withdrawal of mercenaries, fighters, and foreign forces must also be complied with, calling for the importance of training and capacity-building members of the Libyan Coast Guard and Navy, in accordance with the arms embargo.” He added.

“The need to provide border management support to countries neighboring Libya, to enhance implementation of the arms embargo, and the need to disarm, demobilize, and reintegrate armed groups once the conditions are conducive to such a process,” he highlighted.
