Beirut: Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea stressed that the core issue for Lebanon is not whether it is represented by civilians or military personnel in the ‘Mechanism,’ but rather the fundamental decision the state must take: dismantling armed groups.
According to National news agency – Lebanon, Geagea criticized recent discussions about a potential agreement between the President and Prime Minister to include Lebanese civilians in the Mechanism, saying real progress depends on addressing illegal military and security organizations across Lebanese territory.
Geagea warned that failing to take this decisive step risks wasting precious time needed to build a functional state, achieve lasting stability, enforce Israeli withdrawal, finalize the land and maritime border agreement with Syria, and drive reconstruction and economic revival.
