FM: We Discussed With The Kuwaiti FM The Bilateral Relations Between Iraq And Kuwait

Deputy Prime Minister, the minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein said that he discussed with his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheikh Salem Al-Sabah the bilateral relations between Iraq and Kuwait.

He added in a joint press conference with Al-Sabah that “the outstanding problems between the two countries and ways to solve them were discussed.”

Hussein confirmed that he discussed with his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheikh Salem Al-Sabah, the issue of demarcation of the borders.

The minister said in the joint press conference with his Kuwaiti counterpart: “We discussed strengthening relations between Iraq and Kuwait, and we touched on protecting relations and solving outstanding problems between the two countries.”

He added, “We discussed the mechanism of facilitating visits between the citizens of the two countries, and we discussed cooperation in confronting the scourge of drugs and how to control it.”

He continued: “Iraq and Kuwait welcome the Saudi-Iranian agreement.”

For his part, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah announced the opening of a commercial attaché in the Kuwaiti Consulate in Basra.

Al-Sabah said: “We discussed the file of demarcating the borders between Iraq and Kuwait and solving outstanding problems,” indicating that Iraq and Kuwait are linked to deep-rooted historical relations.

He added: “There was a convergence of views on all outstanding issues between Iraq and Kuwait, and we decided to open a commercial attaché in the Kuwaiti Consulate in Basra.”
