Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has said that Egypt stepped up contacts with parties concerned to support stability in the region and reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip to pave the way for achieving peace in the region. Egypt's top diplomat lauded the depth of historical relations with Lebanon which go back to thousands of years. Abdelatty said that he is delivering a message of support and solidarity from the Egyptian government to the Lebanese people. The foreign minister stressed Egypt's condemnation of all attacks that target Lebanon, the latest of which was the attack on Beirut southern suburb.
