Emergency Teams Respond to Sharara Pipeline Leak as Production Persists

Tripoli: The National Oil Corporation (NOC) has reported a fire caused by a leak in a valve on the crude oil export pipeline from the Sharara field. The incident occurred at kilometer 538 near the Bir al-Marhan area in Hamada. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported. According to Libyan News Agency, the NOC announced that emergency, firefighting, safety, and maintenance teams swiftly arrived at the scene to professionally manage and control the situation. Efforts are underway to address the causes of the leak effectively. The NOC has assured that production at the Sharara field remains uninterrupted. Oil is being redirected gradually through the El Feel field pipeline to Mellitah port, while another portion is diverted through the 18-inch Hamada pipeline to the Zawiya storage tanks. These measures have been instrumental in significantly reducing potential losses. The NOC's statement highlighted that its Chairman and Board of Directors have been in constant session since the incident, closely monitoring developments. Authorities have initiated an investigation to ascertain the cause of the leak and ensure preventive measures are in place.
