Lattakia, SANA- An Egyptian ship loaded with 500 tons of relief materials has arrived at Lattakia port to support the efforts of dealing with the effects of the earthquake and provide relief for the quake-affected people.

“This is second shipment of relief supplies provided to the Syrian people through the port of Lattakia,” Ambassador Mahmoud Omar, Chargé d’ affaires of the Egyptian Embassy in Damascus, stated in a statement to SANA reporter.

Omar added that the ship is loaded with about 500 tons of medical and food materials and amenities, and the aid will be delivered to the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) TO distribute it in the areas affected by the earthquake.

He affirmed the depth of the historic relations binding Egypt and Syria and the fraternal ties that unite the two brotherly peoples.

Omar considered that it is natural for the Egyptians to stand by their Syrian brothers to address the effects of the earthquake while continuing to provide aid through the air and sea bridge that was established to support the quake-affected areas.

For his part, Tayseer Habib, Head of the Lattakia Provincial Council, expressed thanks and gratitude to the government and people of the Egyptian Republic for the humanitarian assistance they have provided to their brothers in Syria to overcome this ordeal.
