Egyptian Foreign Minister Engages in Talks with Russian Security Council Secretary on Libyan Developments

Moscow: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty met with Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu in Moscow on Thursday to discuss the latest developments in Libya.

According to Libyan News Agency, Minister Abdel-Aty affirmed Egypt's unwavering support for the unity and stability of Libya during the meeting. He stressed the importance of unifying national institutions and reaching a comprehensive political settlement through a Libyan-led process, paving the way for simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible.

The two sides also exchanged views on developments in the Horn of Africa and several other regional issues, particularly the ongoing escalation in the region.

This meeting comes within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations between Egypt and Russia and opening channels of dialogue for joint coordination on pressing regional issues, especially those related to stability in Libya and regional security.
