Egyptian and U.S. Officials Discuss Stability and Elections in Libya

Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty engaged in a phone conversation with Massad Boulos, the U.S. President’s Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, to deliberate on regional issues, particularly the unfolding situation in Libya.

According to Libyan News Agency, the discussions centered on exchanging views regarding the current developments in Libya and exploring avenues to bolster stability within the nation. Abdel-Aty reiterated Egypt’s unwavering commitment to the unity and stability of Libya, highlighting the critical need to unify national institutions and attain a comprehensive political resolution driven by Libyans themselves.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister further underscored the significance of establishing the necessary conditions to conduct simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections at the earliest opportunity. This initiative aims to enhance stability and meet the aspirations of the Libyan populace.
