Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty met with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, in Cairo to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations, focusing on developments in Libya and efforts to support stability there, within the framework of ongoing political coordination between the two countries.
According to Libyan News Agency, both sides emphasized the importance of continuing consultations on the Libyan issue to support security and stability, preserve the unity of the state, and strengthen the political process as the primary option for resolving the crisis. They also aimed to support joint Arab and African action to confront regional challenges.
The meeting addressed the latest regional developments, including the situation in Sudan and the military escalation there. Both sides stressed the need to intensify diplomatic efforts to contain tensions and prevent further escalation.
In the same context, the Egyptian minister reviewed Cairo’s efforts in cooperation with regional and interna
tional partners to de-escalate tensions and support political settlement processes, especially in Libya, considering it a priority issue for regional national security.
The ministers also discussed ways to develop bilateral relations between Egypt and Morocco and preparations for the first session of the Joint Coordination and Follow-up Committee, aiming to enhance cooperation in various fields and serve the common interests of both countries.
The meeting included an exchange of views on several issues of mutual interest, with emphasis placed on continued coordination and consultation in the coming period, given the rapidly evolving challenges facing the region.
