Tripoli: The foreign ministers of Egypt and Algeria have underscored the necessity of a comprehensive political settlement led exclusively by Libyans. Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty and his Algerian counterpart, Ahmed Attaf, highlighted the importance of maintaining Libya's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity while supporting its national institutions.
According to Libyan News Agency, the ministers discussed the evolving situation in Libya during their meeting on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting on Jerusalem held in Amman. They both emphasized the need for a Libyan-led and owned political settlement that would pave the way for concurrent presidential and parliamentary elections at the earliest opportunity.
Abdel-Aty also pointed out the significance of ongoing coordination among Libya's neighbors and building on the outcomes of the tripartite mechanism of neighboring countries. This approach is seen as crucial to contributing to the security and stability of Libya and the surrounding region.
