Cairo: The Second Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Misbah Douma, convened a meeting today at the House headquarters in Benghazi with prominent academics, financial experts, and economists to deliberate on the current economic landscape and the enhancement of Libya's legislative and financial framework.
According to Libyan News Agency, the session featured participation from Dr. Khaled Al-Nakhat, Dr. Amraj Ghaith, Najwa Al-Aqouri, Jumaa Al-Hassi, Ali Saad Al-Bardah, and Ibrahim Belkhair. Abdul-Moneim Balkour, a member of the House of Representatives' Finance Committee, joined the discussion virtually via video conference.
The primary focus of the discussions centered on assessing the existing financial and tax laws and identifying the obstacles and legislative gaps impeding their effective implementation.
The experts explored strategies for revising and modernizing these laws to rectify current deficiencies and to develop adaptable legislation that aligns with the swift economic transformations and advances in technology and digital systems within the financial sector both domestically and internationally.
Concluding the meeting, the participants pledged to maintain ongoing coordination and to hold regular, intensive sessions to finalize legislative proposals. These efforts aim to serve the national economy and promote financial stability in Libya.
