Sirt: The pesticide spraying campaign to combat desert locusts continues in the areas of Al-Habaa, Al-Ghazi, and Al-Qadawariya in the Abu Hadi district of Sirt, as part of intensive efforts to limit the spread of this agricultural pest.
According to Libyan News Agency, the director of the Central Agricultural Police Branch, Colonel Abdul Salam Saeed, informed a LANA correspondent in Sirt that field teams are actively conducting pesticide spraying operations. These efforts have successfully resulted in the elimination of large numbers of desert locust swarms in the targeted areas.
Colonel Saeed further reported that monitoring teams have identified new locust gatherings in the Al-Farjaniya area in the Wadi Jarif district. He assured that these will be addressed immediately following the completion of the ongoing campaign in the Abu Hadi district.
The campaign is being implemented with direct supervision from the Sirt Municipality and the Supreme Committee for Combating Desert Locusts. This coordination aims to ensure effective control of the locust spread and the protection of agricultural crops in the region.
