Tripoli: Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, discussed the general situation in the capital on Saturday with a number of activists and dignitaries from Misrata, focusing on the recent developments following the security operation carried out in the Abu Salim area.

According to Libyan News Agency, the Misrata delegation expressed its strong support for the Government of National Unity and its president’s vision of ending armed groups and consolidating state authority through regular institutions. The delegation emphasized their commitment to imposing the law and called for adherence to a path reflecting a unified national will that rejects chaos and the rule of arms.

The Prime Minister’s media office reported that the attendees highlighted the government’s responsibility to reveal the fate of the city’s missing residents, previously abducted by the Stability Support Apparatus, and to prosecute those involved in extrajudicial detentions.

According to the office, the Prime Minister confirmed that the security operation in Abu Salim successfully achieved its goals by ending the illegal presence of armed groups and restoring normal operations under regular forces’ protection. He stressed that manifestations outside army or police institutions would not return.

Dabaiba reviewed events following the operation, noting that the capital experienced challenging situations as some parties attempted to inflame tensions. He explained that the government acted swiftly, through the Ministry of Defense, to halt clashes and redeploy regular forces to the affected areas.
