Criminal Investigation in Emsaad Raids Gang Hideout and Frees Illegal Immigrants

Emsaad: The Criminal Investigation Department branch in the city of Emsaad, in far eastern Libya, announced a successful security raid on a warehouse in the Bir al-Ashhab area that was being used to detain illegal immigrants. According to Libyan News Agency, the Criminal Investigation Department's media office explained in a statement on Wednesday that the raid followed a well-planned security operation that resulted in the arrest of a criminal gang responsible for smuggling migrants across the sea to European shores. The office added that during the raid, security personnel found approximately 76 illegal immigrants of Egyptian, Sudanese, and Bangladeshi nationalities. The migrants were freed from detention, which had lasted for more than two months, and were transferred to the branch headquarters where they received initial medical assistance. During the raid, security personnel also found an inflatable boat that had been prepared for transporting the migrants across the sea to the shores of Greece.
